She was one of only two TFD rigs to have the Federal #174 beacons they oscillated back and forth, instead of rotating (the other rig was Engine 51, a 1965 Walters CB3000 crash truck). The third and fourth photos show her on the day she arrived back at the shop in 1983. The original cab remained in Tulsa rumor has it that it went to a whiteshirt's home as part of a recreation room.

The original manual outriggers were retained, as were the (refinished) wood ground ladders. In 1982 it was sent back to ALF for a refurb including a new Century cab, Diesel engine, automatic transmission, power steering, air brakes, and 100' stick. Where at in South East KS? Noticed the outriggers are not down, scary. Are the TFD Ladders still non matching or do they reflect the fire house and engine company? Did they remount the B&M Siro-drift on the 1982 refurbish. Love the pump cans on the steps a true Truckman's tool. This truck was used to open L12 at 28's in 1972, and then saw reserve service at 29s (second photo) and then 3's.

Because of space issues, the alternator was actually bolted to the truck's frame! The truck was repainted and a beacon and west coast mirrors were added about the same time. When the original engine failed in the 1970s, it was replaced with a Ford 534 gas V8. The first photo, taken about 1962, shows her original configuration. When L2 and 元 received their new ALF 100-footers in 1957, #5605 was moved to L5 at 14's where it served until 1968. It was originally assigned to Ladder 2 at 5's. However, it was actually a 1955 model that was shipped from the factory on August 16, 1955. Here is a series of photos of City of Tulsa vehicle number 5605, which was always known as a 1956 model.
#American lafrance manual license
There appears to be license plate "holes" on the center of the tree-trimmer similar to the ALF pictured when it was in service in Dallas. The tree-trimmer is white and red.ģ) Dallas had siren speakers on each side of the bumper.Ĥ) Texas displays a license plate on both the front and rear of a vehicle. The differences I did note, however are subtle and could have easily been modified during it's later years in Dallas OR after it was surplused and actioned.ġ) The warning lights on the front in Dallas are red and red. That, however, doesn't carry too much weight because most ALF/Snorkels I've seen seem to be of a fairly standard cookie-cutter design. The Dallas Snorkel is a good candidate for being the same one pictured as a tree-trimmer. Credit goes to the photographer/owner of which I do not know who it is. With regards to the Dallas Snorkel, the two photos I have of it as attached below.
